Facebook and Instagram ban ‘sexual’ emoji including aubergine and peach

 

While eggplant and peach emojis are used to represent food by some innocent people, the best known are the sexual connotations associated with the characters.

Now Facebook and Instagram have banned these two emoji, as well as water drop, for being “sexually suggestive.”

The change is part of an update to Facebook’s sexual solicitation Community Standards, which targets sex workers who use the platforms to sell their services.

Facebook explained: “People use Facebook to discuss and pay attention to sexual violence and exploitation. We recognize the importance of and want to allow this discussion.

“However, we draw the line when content facilitates, encourages or coordinates sexual encounters between adults.

And another added: “Can Instagram please also ban the brand emojis and the phrase” OMG stop it babe “from commenting.”

At the same time, a cunning user pointed out that there are several other characters with sexual connotations that have not been banned.

He wrote: “Sexual use of eggplant & peach emojis is now banned on Facebook and Instagram.

“This is actually gr8 news for banana, carrot, hot dog, taco and donut emoji to finally make their debut. Do you know how long these guys have been waiting in the wings for their time to shine? ”
