TikTok Username Checker
Enter a username to see whether a TikTok account already uses it, check it against TikTok’s username rules, and get variations to try when it is taken.
Up to 5 checks per tool, per 24 hours from the same IP address. Refreshing a result counts as another check.
Check the name before you change it
TikTok lets you change your username once every 30 days, so it pays to choose well. The checker looks the name up on TikTok at the moment you ask and tells you whether an account already uses it.
Taken or free in one check
An account using the name shows as taken, with its public followers and videos when the account is public.
TikTok’s rules first
2 to 24 characters: letters, numbers, underscores, and periods, with no period at the end.
Ideas when it is taken
Variations that still follow TikTok’s rules, ready to check with one tap.
Check a TikTok username in three steps
Use it before you sign up, rebrand, or rename an existing account.
Type the name you want
Enter it with or without the @. The rules are checked before anything is looked up.
Read the answer
See whether an account uses the name, with its public numbers when the account is public.
Change it in the app
If it looks free, tap Profile, then Edit profile and Username in TikTok, and save the new name.
TikTok’s username rules in short
From TikTok’s own help page on changing your username.
Once every 30 days
After a change, you have to wait 30 days before you can change your username again.
Your profile link changes too
The username is part of your profile link, so update the links you shared with the old name.
Names that are not free yet
A name someone gives up cannot be added to an account for a short period, and a name held by a suspended or deactivated account may not be available right away.
About this free tool
How do I check if a TikTok username is available?
Enter it above. If an account uses the name, the checker shows it as taken. If no account answers, the name may be available; confirm it in Edit profile in the app.
What are the TikTok username rules?
TikTok’s help page says a username must have 2 to 24 characters and can only contain letters, numbers, underscores, and periods, with no period at the end.
How often can I change my TikTok username?
Once every 30 days, according to TikTok’s help page.
Why can’t I use a name that looks free?
TikTok says a name can be unavailable because it is taken or held by a suspended or deactivated account, and a name someone just gave up cannot be added to an account for a short period.
Is the username the same as the nickname?
No. The username is the @ tag that makes up your profile link. The nickname is the name others see on your account across TikTok.
Do you store the names I check?
The answer for a name is cached for up to 10 minutes so repeated checks do not overload the service. The cache holds the public result, not who asked.
